Sioux Falls Area BEBRF Support Group Meeting

The Sioux Falls Area BEBRF support group meeting met on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at the Caille Library Branch in Sioux Falls. There were 12 of us in attendance, including our speaker, Dr. William Rossing. Dr. Rossing practices general neurology with special areas of interest in movement disorders, medical neurotoxin therapy, stroke and multiple sclerosis. He is currently the medical director of the Avera McKennan Hospital Stroke Center and is chairman of the Department of Neurosciences at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

We opened the meeting with everyone introducing themselves and telling a little about their type of dystonia. Then Dr. Rossing gave a Powerpoint presentation, which gave us not only information about blepharospasms, but also about other movement disorders and treatments, such as Meige, hemifacial spasms, spasmodic dysphonia and myectomy surgery. During and after his presentation, Dr. Rossing answered many questions about particular dystonias from many members of our group. He was very thorough and patient in explaining individual situations.

Refreshments were served and we enjoyed visiting with others who are fighting similar afflictions.
